Have you ever partaken in a wild feast as in ancient times?

A bacchanal without measure or aim, where overripe fruit overflows and the wine flows in torrents? Immerse yourself in the richness and opulence of this rare 1964 Calvados from the Domfrontais region, representing the oldest cask in Drouin's cellars. The complex bouquet drips with juicy, overripe pears, dipped in forest honey. Dark hazelnut cream and ground tamarind paste add depth, while an opulent exoticism of freshly sliced mangoes and papayas hovers over the indulgence. Feel the warmth of skin rubbed with cedar oil and ylang-ylang flowers conveying sweet intimacy.

The first sip almost drowns you in the juiciness of freshly cut and caramelised apricots and pear pieces. Accompanied by an intense chocolate and honey sweetness, the Calvados runs down the throat like oil, leaving a never-ending finish of coffee, roots, and apple cider.

Drink and dine, oh thirsty soul, for there is still plenty of time to regret tomorrow!

The fact that it manages to retain the brightness and fruity sparkle while also having a glorious darker, sweet side, makes this the best Calvados I’ve had so far.

It is spicier, slightly more mature, without being even remotely woody. In addition, the fruit is still incredibly present and the apple-pear mix adds an extra layer of aroma. Simply a Calvados in absolute perfection.

Bloody hell, what a Calvados! Truly a great success: powerful, rich, fresh, long-lasting, fruity, woody, acidic... it ticks all the boxes, doesn’t it?
