Talisker Single Reserve - GOT House of Greyjoy - 45,8%

We have to admit, that the fellows from Diageo really know how to find opportunities for a great story: The lands of the Grejoys really fit perfect to the Isle of Skye and it wouldn't be surprising if they used the scenery. Do we care about that in terms of whisky? We don't.
Nose
No doubt a Talisker, but in an elegant dress! That means no wind and seaspray in your face as we are used to have it at the regular Ten or 57 north, but gentle notes of heather, mint and manuka honey, paired with butter cookies. What's new is the old hey in a barn and the sourness of green olives, which is pretty lovely. Not forgetting to mention a hint of black pepper. We can't get rid of the feeling of having a light version of the Talisker 8 in our glass. A prominent reference if you ask us!
Palate
Heavy and creamy mouthfeel! Milk Chocolate with a lot of fleur de sel (Salted chocolate for those who have no weakness for exotic chocolate (so-called chocolatifinados)).
Elderflower, peppermint chewing gum, strong green tea with a shot of lime juice. The whole soup is spiced with fresh black pepper.
Finish
Long and herbal, with a beautiful bitterness of limes and lemons.
Rating
Compared to the luckless familly of Greyjoy, this Talisker didn't disappoint at all. It didn't climb up the throne of course, but definitely reinforced a new and high place within the Talisker Familly with it's unique and oldschool profile.
What would a lighter brother of the Talisker 8 deserve?
