Seailles 2000 - Grape of the Art - 54%

Picture taken at Roche Bobois Stuttgart

Here we are again, Round Number Two for Grape of the Art. Frêche was the initial trick, but the second follows quick. With Séailles we have a real hidden champion up our sleeve (okay, maybe not that hidden anymore). On our first trip to Armagnac we literally stumbled upon this little and very artisanal Vineyard and directly fell in love with their craftmanship (and warehouse).

Nose

Normally, you know a Diamond Rum when you see one! This Armagnac, however, leads you completely astray!
We find Demerara glues of the finest origin that alternate with exotic mangos and papayas, accented with the ripest apricots and peaches. See, it strongly resembles a coffey still Diamond that spend a few years in Gascogne and was feed with tons of bright fruits by the lovely folks there. Add a few drops essential oil of lemon, cedarwood, mint and yasmine and stirr. Add melted butter, sour cherries and one drop of Italian Ristretto. Stirr. In fact, we could actually sell this as Eau de Gascogne pour homme now (perhaps the next GotA merchandising?).

Palate

That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil...Consequently, what comes to mind at the first sip is milk chocolate with pieces of caramelized lemon cests (remember these Lindt's?). The sweetness of the glue also says hello, while the creamy and oily texture leads into a full-bodied, rich mouthfeel. The flavours even reminds one distantly of Capovilla's Rhum Rhums and some Rhum JM, with their herbaceous sweet profiles. But within there are also sultanas, dried mangos and even more chocolate to be found.

Finish

South America sends its regards again! An eternal feeling of wonderfully gentle bitterness of grapefruit peels and dark chocolate leaves nothing to be desired.

Rating

Right, right. We are not allowed to judge here. It's trully a pitty that we cannot. Seriously. Well, we could actually make our raccomandazione in a foreign language like Hindi. Or Aztec. Or German. By the time someone decoded the message and presses charges, we would be long gone. In the event that you don't wanna wait that long, you can lie in wait on 18.02.22 at 6 PM German time at www.Armagnac.de and snag a bottle.
