I couldn't help but taking this bottle with me at my last hiking trip. Those forest autumn colors were just overwhelming.
Nose
A basket full of dark fruits! We have old plums, dates and raisins. Dried mint leaves appear. A hint of cough syrup, but not unpleasant.
There is also a beautiful perfumy and floral note in the background. All in all a very sweet, round and balanced nose.
Palate
Ultra smooth and round mouthfeel. The casks really eradicated any sharpness of the crude destillate. Honey sweetness with caramel, Raisins and butterscotch.
Finish
Long and very dry. It's first time the oak influence of 21 years makes itself noticable. And finally pure cocoa notes appear at the back of the tongue.
Rating
A very beautiful, well rounded sherry dram, especially on the nose. Very subtile and delicate. I personally miss the intensity of their 15 year old expression on the palate, but thats just my taste and doesn't affect the high quality of this dram. This pairs very well with dark chocolate and sweet pastries!
